In Southern California, we are hoping for some rain to combat our drought, and according to the El Niño forecast, we’ll be getting what we want this year!

It takes an extremely heavy rain to close the Park, so on days when the typical So Cal rains hits (it’s more like drizzle), here are eight tips on how to enjoy your time at LEGOLAND® California until it subsides.

1. Get Your Show On:

My favorite way to escape the cold or the heat is to take cover at The LEGO® Show Place where guests can jump right into the action with 4D movies. The Show Place is home to The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure where you can find out what Emmet and friends have been up to since The LEGO Movie ended.

2. Take the LEGO Factory Tour:

If you’ve ever wondered how a LEGO brick is made, this tour will show you from start to finish. It’s fascinating, and the kids will love it! At the end, you can even stock up on your favorite LEGO bricks in bulk or get a brick engraved with your own personal message. Plus, build and display your own creations in LEGO Club House located next door to the LEGO Factory.

3. Become an Adventurer:

Trek though Adventurers’ Club in Fun Town to embark on a LEGO journey through the Amazon rain forest, ancient Egypt and the icy-cold Arctic. This attraction is a hidden gem in the Park and a great place to stay dry!

4. Travel Back in Time:

Lost Kingdom Adventure, which arms riders with laser blasters, will let you battle mummies, skeletons, snakes and more for the treasure of the Lost Kingdom!

5. Put Your Hands to Work:

Get to the heart of what LEGOLAND is all about—building with bricks! There are several locations to experience the fundamentals of the LEGO® brand, through building and interactive play, including Build & Test and LEGO® MINDSTORMS® in the Imagination Zone and the LEGO® Club House located in Fun Town. Your little ones will be occupied for hours while you stay dry.

6. Earn Bragging Rights:

In the Xbox WB Games Family GameSpace, your kiddos and you can go head-to-head, or remote-to-remote, in a gaming experience that all ages will enjoy.

7. Head Under the Sea:

The fascinating sea creatures found at SEA LIFE Aquarium, including sharks, rays, seahorses, clown fish & octopus, are a crab-tastic distraction on a rainy day.

8. Head to the Hotel:

Even if you’re not spending the night at the LEGOLAND Hotel, there are still some fun activities in the lobby area, like a pit filled with imagination and LEGO bricks, and delicious food choices to that non-hotel-guests can enjoy.

P.S. The hotel has a family-friendly bar that is ideal for an adult Hot Toddy or kid’s hot cocoa. You’re welcome.

9. Shop ‘til You’re Dry:

Shopping may not be on your radar at a theme park, but the shops in LEGOLAND California have a huge selection of unique items that can’t be found any place else. My personal favorite is Brick Brothers Trading Company in Fun Town. Not only can you buy practical things like ponchos, they also have California-style clothes for kids, made mainly by Roxy and Quicksilver.

10. Chow Down:

Delicious, organic food options abound at LEGOLAND California that can’t be found at any other theme park. Duck out of that rain and warm up with delicious homemade pizza and pastas at Pizza Pasta Buffet or wade through SEA LIFE Aquarium up to Ocean Journeys Café to grab some signature favorites from fresh-to-order sandwiches to sliders. Just a little drizzle? Grab a covered table at Japanese style Wok ‘n’ Bowl to warm the little tummies with some ramen.

11. Grab a Poncho and Site See:

For the adventurous types who don’t mind the rain, grab a few ponchos at the BIG Shop, or several of the other shops around the Park, and enjoy the magical mini-world known as Miniland U.S.A.

Did the rain cause a portion of our other awesome attractions to be closed for at least 2 hours? We’ve got you covered! Learn more about our Rainy Day Promise.
