“’Really hard’?! Wiping ye bum with a hook for a hand is ‘really hard’!  This be impossible!” -Metalbeard, The LEGO® Movie™

Want to know what Captureisn’t impossible?  Getting to hear more side-splitting pirate lingo from Metalbeard, this time in a whole new kind of experience. Returning as the voice of Metalbeard  in “The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” is actor, Nick Offerman. We were able to sit down with Nick and ask him about his behind the scenes experience.

Q:  What was your reaction when you were asked to voice MetalBeard again for this unique LEGOLAND attraction?

A: I sincerely love voicing MetalBeard for the LEGO projects, as it reminds me of the animated characters of my youth, like Popeye and Grape Ape and The Flintstones. I also love working with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the writer/directors. They operate from a place of love and decency, with just a little mischief thrown in the mix.

Q: What was it like working with Rob Schrab and the team behind this attraction?

A: I have worked with Rob on Children’s Hospital and Parks & Recreation, so it was like a nice reunion of old pals from summer camp. We just tried to make each other laugh with silly renderings of dead-serious pirate-y mayhem.

Rob Schrab directed and co-wrote the attraction and is set to make his feature film directorial debut on “The LEGO® Movie™ Sequel” for Warner Bros.

Q: If you were to create your own LEGO version of Nick’s MetalBeard…what kinds of items would you have attached to your Minifigure?

A: A charcoal grill, 2-man bucksaw, harpoon, peregrine falcon, small well-fed pig, fireman’s axe, Offerman Woodshop baseball bat, small keg of rye whiskey

‘The LEGO® Movie™ 4D A New Adventure’ premieres at LEGOLAND California on Feb. 6 and will air several times a day in LEGO® Show Place throughout 2016.
