If you have little girls between the ages of 4 and 14, it is more than likely the words LEGO®Heartlake City mean something to them (and to you because you’ve undoubtedly purchased many a purple Heartlake box). And if your young gals are like my two daughters, they are sure to have a One-Direction-fan-worthy squeal attack when they learn that the darling LEGO Friends – Mia, Andrea, Stephanie, Emma and Olivia – will be opening up their hearts and homes in a brand new area of LEGOLAND® California Resort dedicated to this uber popular line of girl-friendly LEGO products.
In Heartlake City, set to open Summer 2015, guests will be able to ride horses on the carousel in Mia’s ranch and sing along with Andrea on her tour bus (that’s where you’ll find me), among many other interactive activities.
As a mom who questions some of the products on the market for young girls, I am a big fan of the LEGO Friends, not only because they inspire creativity and imaginative play, but also because they promote positive girl imagery that is not too mature or provocative like other toy products that are currently marketed to young girls. I think bringing these LEGO Friends to life in their own area of the Park is a genius move.
If your wee ones lean more toward the Galactic side of play, then they’ll fist pump over excitement with the other area set to open in 2015, LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland Death Star that will span 6 feet across and will feature building stations where your mini model-builders can construct their own LEGO spaceships.
The exciting possibilities for fun and exploration are endless. 2015 is going to be a great year.
